Summary:
Katie Underwood graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2009 and spent 7 years as an actress, working extensively in theatre across the UK with the likes of Peter Hall, Howard Davies and Jonathan Miller. Increasingly disgruntled with the nature of roles available to women in their thirties, she returned to her studies graduating with distinction from the LSE with a Masters in Gender. Since then, she has worked as a freelance gender consultant, working with early stage tech firm WERKIN, to promote diversity through technology. She has been a listening volunteer with Samaritans for the past 5 years, promoting their 24 hour service on BBC 3’s documentary Night Tube: The First Weekend. She is also director and licence holder for TEDx Shoreditch, whose inaugural event, ‘Visibility & Vulnerability’ takes place in October.
